Nach erfolgreicher Atlantiküberquerung wartete bereits das Projekt St. Lucia auf uns. 10 Patienten waren voller Hoffnung eine Prothese zu erhalten.
Wojtek Czyz is a successfull athlete with a ten years long international career in the field of disabled sports. Winner of four gold medalds, one silver and two bronzes over three Paralympic Games, he had the opportunity to meet disabled people all around the world gaining a clear idea about the behaviour towards disability in countries like Ukrain, Kenya, India and Thailand.
The acceptance of disability and the quality of prosthetic assistance is remarkably different all over the world: disabile people are in fact often
stigmatized as “Lame“ and there is a big lack of support, comprehension and professionality in handling disability. Parents themselves are ashamed of their own children, since they are, presumably, not able to be productive for the family general healt. These people are outsiders and they have no prospectives.
Despite this, the presence of an athlete like Wojtek on spot and the work with these families, has spotlighted the opportunity of a positive changing. His results and success showed to the families how much disabled people can be foundamental components in the social life.
Handicapped people are able to do great things when they are given the opportunities and the conditions to.
As a consequence of this experience and in quality of multiple Paralympic Champion, it has raised in Wojtek the decision to sail over the world togheter with his life partner Elena Brambilla, an athlete herself, to help people in bulding up, deal with and maintain prosthetics.
In this optic the two, together with further members, have estabilished a foundation, Sailing4handicaps, which target is to give to disable people all over the world a new opportunity of life. Sailing4handicaps will perform a circumnavigation on board of the catamaran „Imagine“ bringing on site a specialised crew, prosthetic forniture, medical assistance, support and kwoledge about the use of prosthetics and the abilities of disables, trying to open in this way new prospectives for all these people and their families.

Vierfacher Paralympics-Champion Wojtek Czyz will zwei CMAS Weltrekorde in Freediving aufstellen. Der ehemalige Paralympische Athlet und Mitbegründer der gemeinnützigen Organisation „sailing4handicaps“ strebt in zwei Freediving Disziplinen als erster Oberschenkelamputierter ohne Prothese zwei CMAS Weltrekorde für behinderte Sportler an. Die Weltrekordversuche werden in Tahiti, Französisch Polynesien, am 27. und 28. April 2019 in der Tieftauchdisziplin Constant
Fischer Panda unterstützt sailing4handicaps Die gemeinnützige Hilfsorganisation sailing4handicaps wurde im November 2012 von Wojtek Czyz und Elena Brambilla-Czyz gegründet. Auf einem Katamaran die Welt umsegeln und Amputierten in Entwicklungsländern direkte und unbürokratische Hilfe leisten, das hatten sich Elena und Wojtek vorgenommen. Die “Imagine” hat sich auf den Pazifik vorbereitet. Viele kleine Reparaturen und Modifikationen an Bord der Imagine waren nötig, um sie für die längste Etappe der Weltumsegelung vorzubereiten. Mit Hilfe von MARX konnten die Motoren gewartet werden und sind jetzt startklar, um bei Windstille der Crew zur Seite zu stehen. Ungefähr 5400km am Stück muß

Wojtek Czyz was born in 1980 in the Polish city of Wodzisław Śląski. Since the age of eight years, leaves Czyz Kaiserslautern. On his way to become a professional soccer player in the German team Fortuna Cologne, Czyz has reported a severe sport injury, which has lead to the amputation of his left leg. Afterwards, he dedicated himself to disabled sport- with huge success. The over-knee leg amputee athlete is several times Paralympic Champion. At the Paralympic Games of Athenes 2004, he won a gold medal both in 100 meters and in 200 meters, aswell as in Long Jump. In 2008 in Beijing he won another gold in Long Jump. At the Paralympic Games of London 2012, Czyz won a silver medal in Long Jump and two bronzes in 100 meters and 4x100m relay. Besides this, the athlete is multiple World, European and German Champion. In parallel with his sport career, Czyz has studied at the German Sport University of Cologne (Deutschen Sporthochschule Köln). He has finished his studies in March 2012 gaining a Diploma in Sport Science, Economy and Management.
Elena BrambillaElena Brambilla
Elena Brambilla was born in Vimercate (Italy) in 1983. Diplomed in 2002 at the Classic High School, Elena has got a master degree in Farmacs-Genomic Biothecnologies at the Universita’ degli Studi di Milano Bicocca. She is now getting a second university degree in Herbal Technique at the University of Milano. Professional athlete since 2003, Elena starts for the Gruppo Sportivo Fiamme Azzurre, belonging to the Italian police. National U23 Champion in 2003, National Indoor Champion in 2014, she has been two times finalist in the U23 European Championchips and competes currently in several international meetings. She lives in Germany since 2010.
